OLYMPIC TORCH IN TIME

The Olympic torch appears for the first time in Berlin in 1936.

The torches were made of stainless steel, 27cm long and weighed 450 grams.

The torch traveled by air, land and sea from Olympia to Tokyo.

The tour was based on the route followed Christopher Columbus on his first voyage from Europe to the "New World".

It included Korean traditional graphics, two dragons, symbolizing the harmony between East and West.

The torch was composed of 22 small rods representing each of the 22 Olympics that were held so far.

It is the third time that London will host the Olympic Games. The torch, golden colored, is made of aluminum alloy sheets. Each has 8,000 holes representing each of the 8,000 people taking part in the relay.
